A little helper for big feelings.

When big feelings come quickly, it can be hard for children to know what to do next.

Inspired by Ollie and the Inkstorm, Ollie’s Pocket Helper turns Ollie’s regulation strategy into something children can hold, practise and carry with them.

By gently tying and untying the cord while slowing their breathing, children have something simple to do with busy hands while big feelings have time to move through. And with Ollie close by, there’s a familiar reminder that feelings don’t last forever and they don’t have to face them alone.

Clip it onto a school bag or activity bag so their little helper can come along too.

How to use it

When big feelings start to bubble:

Hold. Tie. Untie. Breathe.

Hold the helper. Gently tie and untie a knot. Breathe in softly, then breathe out long and slow.

There’s no need to make the feeling disappear. Give it a little time and space to move through, like ink in water.

The double-sided Helper Card keeps Ollie’s strategy close by, with simple prompts on one side and Ollie’s Pocket Helper poem on the other.
